With Citrus Crusher, you can effortlessly transport your audio back to the early 2000s. Dial in that nostalgic feel of low-quality MP3s, cellphone recordings, and CD burns in just a few clicks.
Unlike a regular bit-crusher effect this effect degrades audio and compresses it simultaneously. Bit-crushing and compression together can create unique and interesting sound textures and character. The combination of reduced bit depth and compression can produce gritty, lo-fi, or vintage sounds that may not be achievable with either effect alone.
The name ‘Citrus Crusher’ pays homage to the popular software of that era, Limewire™. LimeWire™ was a peer-to-peer file-sharing website that allowed users to download and share content online for free, often low-quality MP3 versions of songs. Whether it’s vocals, melodies, or recordings you can use Citrus Crusher to give your listeners the nostalgic, lo-fi, low-quality feel of the early 2000s downgraded MP3s.

The Soak knob controls the master dry/wet of the overall Citrus Crusher effect.
Crush controls the intensity of the overall pixelating effect. This effect is a combination of pixelation, downsampling, and compression resulting in a uniquely textured audio output.
This knob controls the post filter cutoff. Citrus Crusher comes with 3 built in filter cutoffs. These filters can be activated by selecting one of the associated presets
This knob governs the feedback of the built-in reverb effect. The reverb effect enriches the sound by infusing it with warmth and spaciousness, enhancing its character and evoking a nostalgic vibe.
The “Freeze” button is a unique feature that captures and holds the incoming audio, essentially creating a frozen playback of the sound. The freeze button adds to the essence of digital art, of pixelation and glitches.
