How We Created This Free Memphis Drum Kit

Memphis drums have a very specific feel. They need to sound dark, raw, bouncy, and gritty without feeling overproduced. For this free Memphis drum kit, we sampled old drum machines and 1990s  samplers to capture the authentic sound that started Memphis rap.

We focused on drums with the kind of bounce and texture often heard in classic Memphis-inspired production. Inside the kit, you’ll find punchy kicks, gritty snares, dusty hi-hats, percs, sound effects, gritty bass sounds that are easy to drag into your DAW and start building with right away.
